Outdoor Expedition

9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Kauai is known for its beauty and wildness (kind of like Kellen), and there’s a spot we want to show you that’s just a bit off the beaten path.  The joy really is in the journey for this one.  To get to the destination, we’ll be paddling up a calm river and doing a short hike.  The paddle journey and hike are suitable for kids.  We’ll provide the gear and the food, just come outfitted for an outdoor adventure and you’ll be just fine.

Time: Arrive 9:30 a.m, push off at 10 a.m.  We should finish before 3 p.m.

Where: Wailua State Park Boat Ramp, 4561 Kumamoto Rd, Kapa’a, HI 96746

Food: We will provide lunch and snacks, please arrive breakfasted and caffeinated

Who: All are invited!

What: A water and hiking adventure suitable for almost everyone (kids included)

What to Wear: Water-friendly clothes, shoes you can hike in (i.e., water shoes or Tevas/Chacos / not flip flops)

What to Bring: Stuff on the packing list, water bottles, a light backpack

What To Expect: An easy kayak/paddleboard adventure appropriate for beginners. This is not a high-risk activity.  There will be a hike that is not strenuous but requires some balance and sure footing.  The kayaks are quite stable and paddleboards are also available.  If you are uncomfortable with the water activities or a hike that requires some light climbing, please reach out for an alternate activity.

Adult Vibe: Outdoorsy, site seeing

Kid Vibe: Confidence building, adventure

Weather: We’ll plan on doing this rain or shine (we have the ability to alter the agenda if it is raining) unless there is a LOT of rain.  You’ll see any weather-related agenda changes in the daily text.

Kids Night In

5:30 PM Drop Off

The Adventure Squad (i.e. the kids) demanded that they get some time away from the ‘dults for whatever shenanigans they have in mind.  That’s fine in our book as it allows the rest of us to be adults for a few hours instead of kid wranglers.  After a day of outdoor adventures, the kids should expect a calm night indoors.  They’ll be overseen (and fed) by multiple experienced babysitters (who the kids might know as their Adventure Squad leaders).

Time: 5:30pm drop off; pickup whenever parents are ready to pick up!

Who: The Adventure Squad

Where: 3821 Haulani Place, Princeville HI, 96722

What: The kids will hang out with our capable Squad leaders for dinner, snacks, and activities.

What to Wear: No dress code - whatever is comfortable. Maybe p.j.’s!

What to Bring: Nothing

Food: Dinner and snacks will be provided to the kids

What To Expect: Inside activities (think games and watching a movie)

Adult Vibe: No adults allowed (except the Squad leaders)

Kid Vibe: Chill vibes, relaxing after the earlier adventure vibe

Adult Night Out

6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

The kids will be in good hands with their Adventure Squad leaders, and we will be FREE!!!  After you drop the kids off, meet us at a local Hanalei restaurant for some delicious food and drink.  We’ll all relax after the adventure earlier in the day.  Depending on weather, we may end the evening with a bonfire on the beach.  Come hang and then go to bed tired and happy.

Time: 6pm (whenever you’re done dropping your kids off at Kid’s Night Out)

Who: Adults

Where: Meet at Kalypso (in Hanalei)

What: Dinner and a low-key hang out at a local restaurant, followed by some unstructured time without kids.

What to Wear: Island casual - whatever you want! It might be a good idea to bring a light sweater in case of a breezy evening.

What to Bring: Just yourself

Food: Dinner and drinks at Kalypso on us!

What To Expect: Conversation, food, fun

Adult Vibe: Chill vibes - relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.  Possible bonfire or beach walk to close out the night (weather dependent).

Kid Vibe: No kids allowed.
